believe me, you have the time to get away.
when you enter the hall, the spiders spawn after a second or so (looks like droping from the ceiling.
when you are fast, you can be around the corner without even aggroing them.

i'm still thinking about, why you are fighting them all three at once.
except for the ogre, there are no monsters in the hall.
maybe you should just move away fast when you come to level 6.
just run straight to the left and turn around the corner, than you can fight the spiders one by one.

There was an area earlier in the game where they spawned continuously. I think it was level 4, but I'm not sure. It was the one with the scrolls. Indeed that is Floor 4. I think everybody had trouble at in the checkered room and I must say that i sighed when I finally figured it out. Nah, it just strikes you or it doesn't. Evasion is more important than armour - better to avoid getting hit at all. All good, but this one is kinda a lie. High protection is better than Evasion. Evasion just means harder to hit. But with no protection. Then when you do get hit, you get hit hard and die easily. Especially against the high...

i just realized, that there is probably a way to lock yourself out.
when you just left the room (with open door), and throw something in the room, it might land on the wrong tile.
when this happens, you don't have the chance to get back. but i requires active failing, so you might remember it.

checkered room was not the problem. my first thought was going to chess, and than it was easy. my greatest problem was the "halls of fire"-entrance. on the shelf next to the pit are lying two fire-bombs. so i threw one to the fireball-head, nothing happened. and when i found the fire-sword...

How the hell have you done this?
I got the problem, that one of the blue dinosaurs get into this room, and blocked the entrance through wandering along the plates.
but without a monster, there is no possibility to lock yourself out.

I really don't know if the normal weapon has to hit to procc the lightning-strike. But if the lightning kills the monster, you get no ep, regardless how many times you have hit it before the killing-strike. It's like if you hit a monster serveral times, and it then gets killed by a lightning- or a f...
