So I just beat the final boss and credits rolled and... I never went to the pyramids. I also never created the 5th element (had 2 shards on me at the time). When was I supposed to go to the pyramids and why is it totally optional? What does getting the 5th element do?

Are you doing this out of order? You need to go to the archives first in order to legitimately know how to get into the cemetery, so how have you gotten into the cemetery with such terrible gear (weapons at least)? I just miss the suffocating isolation atmosphere the first game had. I knew outdoors sections would pretty much kill that, not that it could have really been helped. At least there are no NPCs.
