I would assume that negation 0 means an unmodified evasion roll for the attack. A negative number would give the opponent better chances.

For me, I'd say this game is based MORE on Eye of the Beholder than on Dungeonmaster, but I suppose that can be dependant on which view you take.

I have always felt that EotB was the clear silverback of the genre though. I connected better with that than Dungeonmaster.

I did not get Dungeons of Daggorath until long after release, so I actually initially thought Dungeonmaster was before it. The more you know!

And as others have pointed out: Where does it actually leave Dungeonmaster itself? Tracing they lineage of all these things only make people angry at each other.
