As a level designer, I'm not worried about this one. It sounds like AH has a good handle on this. A minimap is needed more when the environment is light on landmarks. I agree with that completely. The best solutions are those that work with the game, not against it.

I know the door trick is practically necessary (especially in hard difficulty), but there are too many moments when I just think it's too cheap. So, I use the word "weaken" not "eliminate". Right now it pretty much guarantees victory over many monsters, which is a little too much...
