As long as any change remains optional , I don't see how it hurts anyone else. On the other hand it will certainly improve some people's experiences so I don't see the downside. I raised one element up to the skill that boosts your ranged spell's damage and put the rest into spellcraft. I found that after the final damage boost I preferred the utility of increased energy over maxing out my air tree for more resistances in 1 measly element.

If you're going to use armor then get the skills. Evasion is arguably overpowered compared to raw defense so don't do anything that diminishes your evasion. Hoestly I don't feel bows are worth the sacrifice in versatility. They would be alot more tempting if I didn't have to use both hands.
