Re: LED Wall Display: 0 - 99
I think the functions to use would be: x = tx * sin(90 * facing) + tz * cos(90 * facing); z = tx * cos(90 * (facing + 1)) + tz * sin(90 * (facing + 1)); Reasoning: __ x z 0 tx tz 1 tz -tx 2 -tx -tz 3 -tz tx z is shifted by 90° of x plus-wise - if you know what I mean ;) ... no, really, I have no ide...

Re: LED Wall Display: 0 - 99
Just two short remarks: 1. local tx = align + (pix - 0) % 5 * horizontal_spacing <--- why'd you subtract 0? legacy code? 2. Instead of nested if-clauses, you could use sine and cosine functions to calculate which value goes to tx and which to tz. I'm not entirely sure if this would be more efficient...

Re: This game needs more story?
The original usage of the term "RPG" is not really relevant anymore. The modern industry usage is purely a description of certain game mechanics, and doesn't necessarily require having choice in your story, or even a story at all. RPG could stand for "ruminating precocious gazelles&q...

Re: request: use scrolls like weapons
You could try out Wizardry IV then. For a start, imagine LoG (with turn based locked combat) where you can ONLY level up at the heal crystals, can't fight for your own, but have to summon monsters there. And you fight against 'Heroes', who are actually real player characters from the predecessor ga...

Re: Request: Custom Classes
But clerics more or less act through divine actions. So maybe instead of selecting runes, you have a spell list for clerics - favours they can ask their deities for - but only a certain number of spells available between rests, depending on piety (which depends on certain actions?) While I like the...

Re: Sandbox mode?
If you want sandbox ---------------> Fall Effect 3, Dragon Bitch 2, Anno 2070, Settlers 7 & etc. Don't deform MASTERPIECE!!! I'm pretty sure you dont know what sandbox means if ME3, DA2 are suggestions. What does sandbox mean anyway? In the context of games, sandbox has long meant a safe enviro...

Re: Newb question re spell casting
You guys are applying WAY too much logic to a game not based in reality. After all, it's a mix between fantasy and reality. And for a fantasy world to be acceptable and appealing, it should make a certain amount of sense. Otherwise it'll get ridiculous. That's why Tolkien's Middle-Earth is so...

Re: request: use scrolls like weapons
And you know what? It is! It is elitism and I don't want any f'kin casual gamer, who's too lazy or too stupid to cope with this game's mechanic, to play this game. I don't want them to play this game as much as I don't want them to play Darksiders. You know why? Because I like hard games where you c...

Re: This game needs more story?
If you remove the human interactions and as such remove the fun in "acting", what is left? Mechanisms. Would that still be a ROLEPLAYING game? I don't think so. So you say human interaction is what defines an RPG? I would strongly object. As the name says - and as you point out several ti...
