I have a human mage (skillful,evasive) (staff defence,spellcraft,fire) in front, in leather armorr and staff+sword (for style) and it works okish. I have a Minotaur (agressive, headhunter) with points in throwing weapons only and he hits like a truck. I have also a lizardman with bow+arrows and even if the minotaur dexterity is like 2/3 of the lizardmen, the attack bonuses+skulls makes it very viable.
