The place is between the room full of trapdoors and that "catch all the frostshards" room.
EDIT: Its more near to that frostshard room. There is a iron gate, torch in the maps described place.

I didn't find any hints for level 8 here so there is a guide to get started. Go get that note from second iron gate. Go back to the level 7. Then compare the map and note.
