As a programmer when I see their changes so far, it doesn't look like anything that would affect your savegames. So I think it's pretty safe to say that your savegames will continue to work.
Of course, Almost Human has the final word on it.

Legend of Grimrock is a 32-bit application, I think you need to reinstall the C++ libraries for 32-bit, not the 64-bit.

You know what I struggled with this to, eventually I did manage, it's a timing issue. Try moving backwards almost simultaneously with pressing the button. Also you can just hold the move backwards key down. But yeah a fraction more time for this would be nice. I could only solve this by moving back...

Ah, thanks for the report. This seems to be a different bug with sort of similar symptoms. Just noticed you added a fix for the door throw thing. One of the cases that I noticed is that level 1 (or level 2) door with the sun on it. I was able to toss a skeleton's shield through the door.
