sometimes it works sometimes it doesnt...if you're right next to them they will attack you. Also some monsters seem to zero in on you no matter how far you are.

hmmm weird the lightning bolt scroll which i couldve sworn i picked up and dropped before opened up walls when i tried picking it up again

theres a button closer to the entrance it opens up a hallway with some scrolls in them...keys around there i believe

after the pillered hallways i cant seem to open the iron door...no switch or anything

It might be that im crazy but i think it opened for me when i got the sword of nex from the pit puzzle on the same level

i mean what level is the secret room on?

are you guys talking about the plate you can barely see far off and blocked by a gate? Trying to get to that too haha...cleared level 5 i think and i still havent been able to get it
